Dear Dean Shi Yan'an, Dean Shi Jiayou, Director Liu Yai, Director Xiao Wanqiu, Ms. Lafon, Director Zhou Jing, teachers, and dear students.

    Good morning!

It is a great honor to be invited to the opening ceremony of this year's Sino-European Law Program.

First of all, I would like to congratulate the students. I know how high the selection requirements are for our Sino-European Law Program, and being selected proves how good you are!

Just now Dean Shi introduced the origins of Lantern Law Firm and Renmin University. We are proud to be part of this project, and I am even happier to be able to meet you all in this way, isn't it a little bit wonderful to be part of a crowded planet in a small universe?

Today we are holding this ceremony here at NPCI, in Suzhou, and I am sure that in the future, you will always remember Suzhou, not only because of its quiet campus and beautiful scenery, but also because you have sweated here! You will keep reminiscing about this place and hopefully come back to visit more often in the future.

Students, I have spent more than 40 years of my life in vain, and I have just a little insight to share. I think the purpose of life is to transmit, on the one hand, the message of life, which our ancestors and parents gave us, and on the other hand, the transmission of human civilization, which gives our lives meaning and value. As you can see, students, all of us here today (more than the 10 of you), and many more who aren’t here, are here for you, for this transmission of civilization. You are spirited, you are young, and we expect you to become better, to take up, and to pass on this torch of civilization!

Finally, I wish you all good results and a wonderful life!

    Thank you!

    Liu Lunshan
